Studio Management Software for Studios
A studio has more moving parts than a solo creator: several shoots, performers to book and pay, and records to keep. This page shows how My Content Tools fits that.
What changes when you run a studio
When you run a studio, information has to travel: from the booking to the shoot, then to the performer's paperwork, the payment and the report. Without one system of record, each handoff is a message, and each message is a place for something to go missing.
Planning the shoot
Shoots live on a calendar with their client, rate and hours. You can import existing entries from Google Calendar (paste your calendar's private iCal link and press Save & Sync, then review the events found), email a call sheet from the shoot record, and turn on the optional Morning Shoot Brief, an email of the day's shoots sent to your studio's own notification email between 6 and 11 am while My Content Tools is open. See shoot scheduling for creators.
Performers, releases and records
Your performer roster holds each person's details, ID and releases. On set, you use Model Release Pro on a phone to capture the ID and the signed release; after you press Sync, those arrive in My Content Tools and are matched to the shoot and performer. Because the same account signs in to both apps, there is nothing to pair.
The 2257 record-keeping tools help you organise those records, with a Records Check that lists problems it finds, such as a performer with no signed release on file for a shoot, and offers a fix for each one after you confirm. They support your own record-keeping; they are not legal advice and they do not replace advice from your attorney. See the 2257 record-keeping guide.
Orders, pay and reporting
Custom orders are tracked end to end with the net after fees. Performer payments are logged against the performer and shoot. Revenue imports from platform reports, expenses are logged, and the monthly report gives revenue, expenses and net profit with a per-performer breakdown. See revenue tracking.
Where your records are stored
Your records are stored on your own computer. If you use Model Release Pro, what you capture on your phone is sent through our cloud service so it can be delivered to your computer when you press Sync. Run the desktop app on a Mac or Windows PC; the phone app, Model Release Pro, is live on Google Play for Android and on the App Store for iPhone.
One subscription covers both apps at $19.95 per month plus applicable tax, with a 30-day free trial and no card required. If you are a single performer running your own business, the solo creators page may fit better.
A typical shoot day, end to end
To make this concrete, here is the shape of a shoot day. In the morning, if you have turned it on and My Content Tools is open, the Morning Shoot Brief emails the day's shoots, and the call sheet you emailed from the shoot record is with the people who need it. On set, you capture each performer's ID and the signed release in Model Release Pro. Back at the desk, you press Sync and the releases appear in the performer roster, matched to the shoot.
In the following days, the shoot's rate and hours feed the money side: performer payments are logged and any related custom orders are updated. At month end, the P&L report summarises the lot. Nobody had to retype a performer's details or hunt through message threads for a signature.
