Getting Started

Everything you need to go from zero to a running studio — in plain language, no assumed knowledge. About 15 minutes end to end.

🧩 First, understand the two apps

My Content Tools is a suite of two separate apps sharing one account:

  1. 🖥 My Content Tools (MCT) — your studio command center. Runs on your Mac or Windows PC only (it does not install on phones). Models, shoots, revenue, compliance records, team deliveries.
  2. 📱 Model Release Pro (MRP) — your on-set tool. Runs on your phone only (it does not install on computers). Scan model IDs, capture signatures, generate §2257 release paperwork. On the App Store On Google Play
You sign in to both apps with the same email and password, and your releases come across when you press Sync. That's the whole trick.

1️⃣ Create your account

Open MCT and create your account — your free trial starts automatically.

📱 Signing up from your phone? Perfectly fine — your account is saved. Just remember MCT itself installs on your computer, so finish the next step when you're at your computer.

2️⃣ Install MCT on your computer

On a Mac

  1. On your Mac, go to mycontenttools.com/download and pick the button that matches your Mac — Apple Silicon or Intel. Not sure? Apple menu → About This Mac.
  2. Open the downloaded .dmg file and drag MyContentTools into your Applications folder.
  3. Open it from Applications. The first time, macOS asks if you're sure — click Open. (It's signed and notarized by Apple's process; the prompt is standard for newly installed apps.)

On Windows (Windows 10 22H2 or later, 64-bit)

  1. On your PC, go to mycontenttools.com/download and click Download — Windows.
  2. Open the downloaded MyContentTools-Setup file and follow the installer's steps.
  3. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway. Windows can show this for newly released apps.
  4. Open MyContentTools from the Start menu or the desktop shortcut.

3️⃣ Sign in and link your account

  1. In MCT, open Settings (left sidebar, near the bottom).
  2. Find the MRP Account fields (Connections section) and enter the email and password from Step 1.
  3. Click Save Settings. Your trial activates against your account, and your desktop is now linked.
This is the single most important step — it's what connects your desktop to your account and, later, to your phone.

4️⃣ Get MRP on your phone On the App Store On Google Play

Install MRP from the App Store or Google Play, sign in with the same email and password, and you're connected — no pairing codes, no extra setup. Releases you capture on set appear in your desktop compliance archive after a sync.

5️⃣ Your first ten minutes in MCT

  1. Add a model — Models → Add Model. Name and contact are enough to start; compliance docs can come later or sync from MRP.
  2. Create a shoot — Shoots → Schedule Shoot. Pick your model, date, and location; MCT can email a call sheet to you or the model.
  3. Import a video — Video Library → drop a file in. Screencaps and AI title tools live here.
  4. Look at Settings → Modules — hide any sections you don't need yet. The app is big; you don't have to use all of it on day one.

⏱ About your trial & what happens after

You're on a free trial — the app shows your remaining days. When it ends, the app asks you to pick a plan (billed securely; cancel anytime — see pricing).

Your data is never deleted, even if you don't subscribe. Your records are stored on your own computer. If you use Model Release Pro, what you capture on your phone is sent through our cloud service so it can be delivered to your computer when you press Sync. Your model releases and §2257 records stay in your account. Subscribe next week or next year — it's all where you left it.

Note: My Content Tools is in beta. Some features are marked "coming soon" and are still on the way — delivered automatically through the app's built-in updates.
